Phillip “KD” McCoy

Phillip "KD" McCoy, 68, of Hampton, VA died at his home Thursday, December 6, 2007 following an extended illness.

A native of Grundy, he moved to the
Peninsula in 1961 where he was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding. He retired in 1964 as a welding supervisor following 35 years of service. He and his wife were actively involved with the Phoebus Little League Baseball team for some 40 years.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie and Nellie McCoy, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolly Hale and Letha Maples.  He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Duke, and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Timmy and Melissa; and nephews, Jesse Kennedy, Tommy and Jerry Hale; brother-in-law, Stewart Maples; and his adopted family, Nina and children, Stephanie and Michael Turlington.
   
A celebration of life service was held Sunday, December 9 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Earwood presiding. Interment was held privately.
