Junior C.A. Ramey

HURLEY, Va. Junior C.A. Ramey, 67, of Hurley, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006 at Holston Valley Medical Center Hospital, Kingsport, Tenn., following an extended illness.

Born in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Ellis and Nora Dales Ramey. He was a life-long resident of Buchanan County, a member of Bethany Bible Church and a graduate of Garden High School. He was a former baseball coach for the Grundy Elementary School. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a former employee of McCrae Trucking Company. Mr. Ramey was former owner and operator of Delbarton Mining Company, Dark Hollow Mining Company, Bounty Mining Company and Ramey Trucking Company.

He is survived by his wife: Rebecca Lynn Cooper Ramey of Hurley; six daughters: Dianna and husband Pollard Shortt of Vansant, Va., Tonya and husband Ronnie Ward of Summersville, S.C., Chelsea Nicholle Ramey of Hurley, Melanie Dawn Cooper of Hurley, Rebecca Jill Cooper of Hurley and Kristy Payne Cooper of Hurley; six sons: Dwayne and wife Jill Ramey of Grundy, Va., Cameron Ramey of Grundy, Chandler Andrew Ramey of Hurley, Cheyenne Colley Cooper Ramey of Hurley, Corey Shannon Colley Cooper of Hurley and Byron Derek Cooper of Richlands, Va.; one brother, Bobby Gene and wife Phyllis Ramey of Pulaski, Va.; also survived by 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son: Channig Colley Ramey and one brother: Leon Ramey.

Funeral services for Junior C.A. Ramey will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Bethany Bible Church near Hurley with the Rev. Paul Rife, Evg. Michael Trent and Evg. Same Casebolt officiating with burial to follow in the Dotson Cemetery on Abner’s Fork near Hurley.

Friends called at Bethany Bible Church Sunday at 5 p.m. with services Sunday and today at 7 p.m.

Patel, Dr. Dia Owens, Pollard Shortt, Lillard Blankenship, Ronnie Ward, Bob Blankenship, Ron Coleman, Timothy Ramey, Sam Casebolt, Marion Skeens, Michael Trent, Vicki Justus Stacy, Imogene Justus, and friends at Big Rock Church of Christ.
