GRUNDY -- Gary Wayne Blankenship, 49, of the
Hobbs Branch section, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital. He was born in Buchanan County and was a son of Mays Street Blankenship of Rowe, Va., and the late Ira Arnold Blankenship. He was a member of Little Prater Church of Christ and was employed as a cable splicer. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Patricia Ann Blankenship; two daughters, Stephanie Lee Holland of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Tonya Michelle Blankenship of Grundy; a sister, Jo Anne Byram of Crozet, Va.; a brother, Ron Blankenship of Oakwood, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Little Prater Church of Christ by Grundy Funeral Home. Evangelist Michael Trent and the Rev. Ancil Childress will officiate. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Mr. Blankenship was a loving husband and father. Pallbearers will be Nickolas Blankenship, Corbett Ratliff, Scott Byram, Ricky Osborne, Rush Sammons, Lonnie Compton, James Hess and Mike Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Blankenship, Cecil Roark, Ronny Byram, Danny Charles, Roger Fletcher, Allen Blankenship, James Street, Jim Taylor, Guy Shortridge, Dr. Amjad Hussain and Thomas Holland III. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. Grundy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
