Dorothy McNulty Ray

BELFAST, Va. Dorothy McNulty Ray, age 66, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at her home following a long illness.

Born in Buchanan County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Toy Watts McNulty and Helen Erie Sisk McNulty. She was a member of the Trinity Tabernacle Church and a former nurse at Clinch Valley Hospital and Mattie Williams Hospital and worked for Food City in Lebanon and Vansant for 15 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dolphus McNulty.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Mr. Billie Lee Ray; two daughters, Mrs. Sherry Lynn Campbell and husband Peyton Verlyn of Bristol Virginia, and Mrs. Amey Jo Nelson and husband Tim of Belfast; two brothers, Donald McNulty and wife Lula of Lima, Ohio, and Rodger McNulty and wife Alma of Wardell, Va.; one grandson, Tyler James Nelson of Belfast; sister-in-law, Eunice Ford McNulty of Oakland, Calif.; two step-grandchildren, Zdena Wise and husband Scott and Athena Nunley and husband Mark, all of Brumley Gap, Va.; two step-great-grandchildren, Ciana Nunley and Desirae Nunley, both of Brumley Gap; and several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends also survive.

Funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy McNulty Ray will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, with Pastor James Horton and Brother Keith Cordle officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery, at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Jimmy McNulty, Johnny McNulty, Rodney McNulty, Randy McNulty, John Mark McNulty, Josiah McNulty and Joseph McNulty.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:45 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff after 5 p.m. Monday. The family asks that all expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
